The Way of Wisdom: The Power of Getting Back Up

Day 24 — 31 Days in Proverbs — The Way of Wisdom

The Power of Getting Back Up

“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” — Proverbs 24:16

Falling Is Not the End of the Story

One of the most encouraging realities in the book of Proverbs is that wisdom never assumes perfection. Solomon acknowledges something every one of us has experienced: even the righteous fall.

That line alone should give us hope.

The difference between the righteous and the wicked isn’t that one group never struggles while the other does. The difference is what happens next. The righteous rise again.

They refuse to stay down.

Life will include moments of failure. There will be times when we miss the mark, respond poorly, or realize we still have growth ahead of us. But wisdom reminds us that falling does not have to define the direction of our lives.

What defines us is our willingness to stand back up.

Resilience Builds Strength

Every time we rise again, something inside us grows stronger. Our faith deepens. Our humility grows. Our understanding of God’s grace becomes more real.

Failure has a way of teaching lessons that comfort never could. It exposes blind spots, reveals areas of growth, and reminds us how much we still need God’s wisdom.

But when we keep rising, failure loses its ability to control our story.

Over time, resilience becomes strength.

A Life That Keeps Moving Forward

I want our church to be full of people who know how to get back up. Not people who pretend they never struggle, but people who refuse to quit when they do.

Because wisdom isn’t proven by perfection. It’s proven by perseverance. And every time you stand up again, you take another step toward the life God is shaping in you.
