The Way of Wisdom: If You Seek It, You’ll See It
Proverbs 2 "…if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”
Here’s the truth: You will find what you are looking for.
If you want an excuse, you’ll find one.
If you want someone to blame, you’ll find them.
If you want sympathy, it’s available.
But if you want wisdom, you have to seek it.
Proverbs 1 told us wisdom is for everyone. Proverbs 2 tells us it’s for everyone who pursues it.
Solomon doesn’t say wisdom falls on you. He says you search for it. You look for it. You cry out for it. And there’s a difference between crying about your situation and crying out for wisdom in your situation.
One wants relief. The other wants revelation.
One looks for comfort. The other looks for correction.
You Will See What You Seek
Jesus said it clearly in the Gospel of Matthew 7:7: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
Seek and you will find. That’s not just a promise. It’s a principle.
When you start looking for offense, you’ll see it everywhere. When you start looking for problems, you’ll find plenty.
When you start looking for what’s wrong with your spouse, your church, your job, you won’t have to look long.
But when you seek wisdom? You begin to see:
Where your pride is leading.
Where your reactions are immature.
Where your habits are sabotaging you.
Where God is inviting you to grow.
You will see it.
But only if you seek it.
Store It. Don’t Sample It.
Proverbs 2 starts with something most people skip:
“Store up my commands within you.”
Not skim them.
Not highlight them.
Not repost them.
Store them.
This isn’t quick-fix Christianity. This is formation. Wisdom isn’t information you scroll past. It’s truth you hide in your heart until it changes how you live.
Stored truth becomes instinct.
Stored truth becomes reflex.
Stored truth becomes character.
You don’t become wise because you heard something once.
You become wise because you built your life on it.
That’s the difference between a quick fix and a wise way. And the wise way is always God’s way.
Stop Crying About It, Cry Out For It
Solomon says, “Call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding.”
That’s hunger. Not complaining. Not venting. Not gathering sympathy. Hunger.
There’s a kind of cry that just wants attention.
And there’s a kind of cry that wants transformation.
If you want wisdom, you can’t just cry about your life.
You have to cry out for wisdom in your life.
Today’s Question
What are you actually seeking right now?
Because whatever you are seeking, you are training yourself to see.
If you seek excuses, you’ll see limitations.
If you seek validation, you’ll see injustice.
If you seek wisdom, you’ll see God’s way.
And remember:
If you seek it, you’ll see it.
