You’re as Close to God as You Want to Be

What if I told you the breakthrough you’ve been praying for is closer than you think? Not because everything in your life suddenly gets easy, but because you decide to come a little closer to God. And not out of pressure, not out of guilt, not out of “I should,” but out of hunger.

Here’s the truth: God has never been distant. He’s always been responsive. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” That means closeness with God isn’t complicated, it’s chosen. You’re as close to God as you want to be. And if your heart has drifted, the answer isn’t to beat yourself up and try harder. The answer is to turn back wholeheartedly.

Because a 180-degree turnaround usually doesn’t start with a dramatic moment on a stage. It starts with a willing heart in a normal room on a normal day saying, “God, I want You more than the noise, more than the distraction, more than my excuses.”

So here’s my simple invitation: give God 180 minutes this week. That’s it. Not 180 minutes a day. Not go live in a monastery. One hundred eighty minutes total. Fifteen minutes in the morning, fifteen minutes later in the day, six days, thirty minutes a day. And you’ll look up at the end of the week and realize something shifted. Not because you earned anything, not because you proved you’re a good Christian, but because you positioned yourself where His presence can meet you.

And don’t overthink it. Those moments don’t need to be polished, they need to be real. Start with gratitude. Let worship soften your heart. Pray honest prayers. Open the Word and let God remind you who He is and who you are. Then pause long enough to notice that He’s near.

Come back later in the day and do it again. Keep it short, simple, and sincere. Because Zechariah 4:6 still hits: “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.” God does His deepest work when we stop striving and start seeking.

You may not feel everything change overnight, but something will start moving. Passion comes back. Peace settles in. Faith gets stronger. Direction gets clearer. And you might start with 180 minutes and realize, “Wait, I want more than that.”

I promise you, you will never regret time spent with God. So if you’re believing for a turnaround, don’t wait for the perfect moment. Start right now. Make room. Lean in. Seek Him with your whole heart. Because when we seek Him, we find Him. And when we find Him, everything begins to change.
